You can't tell like that because the gauges are innaccurate and not always linear :?

You need to use a tankfull of fuel, refill it to the top, and then divide the miles covered by the litres used 8) Check it over two or three tankfulls

I use an app called "road trip le" to track my fuel economy and its damn useful. In the colder weather doing short trips my mpg drops to 36 around town.

The Connect 110ps is not great on economy.

As said, the fuel gauge is not accurate and mine can be in the same position as the OP after about 50 miles, it depends on how much fuel you managed to get in. It costs about £70 to fill mine when the reserve light has been on for a few miles.

The van should do about 360 miles until the reserve light comes on, which is about 36mpg. It depends on how you drive it. I have had my T200 SWB since new and it has always done between 35 and 38mpg.

Ford only list the van as doing 38mpg on the urban cycle so if you are getting near to that you are doing well. On the motorway I get about the same, but I tend to do about 80 (indicated, actual speed according to the satnav is 75)

It's the 80MPH that's your overhead.

I've never failed to get less than 45mpg, and usually it's nearer the 50mpg mark - if you stick to the LCV 50-70mph speed limits.

The Connect is a more solid and heavier van than the tin can continental vans like Peugeot and Renault, so it suffers in the comparison. It's also bigger and squarer in both SWB and LWB form than the opposition.

Vans are designed for people with imagination. Cars are so limiting ... what can you do with them?

I know.

But I tried driving at 55mph on one of my trips to Scotland and I almost lost the will to live after 300 miles.
