Bought a 2003 connect last week , i am happy with my purchase ,but have a couple of problems , one similar to this thread , my foot well water is on the drivers side and comes out of the chassis number flap when i put my feet in the driving position , now i am not daft and know there must be lots of water in the foot well under the "carpet/matting" ,ive read all the bumph so far on the net as to what/where it may be coming from , but tonight on the way home i had some dripping from the trim to the right of the drivers sun visor "where the plastic meets the roof lining" ,now it's not rained here for a week ,any ideas ? , i am thinking roof rack blanks "no roof rack fitted" or Ariel ,is it too high for screen bonding "i think so" .
cheers in advance guys .

I think you will definately have to re-seat the aerial and unscrew the roofrack grommets, then re-seat them with silicone or something-- I did mine just in case. I would do those two first, then watch it for a while (you really need the carpets out though). Your floor will be leeping, I am still trying to dry my carpets out, nearly a week later!

Well, I have had everything off under the N/S front arch, and sealed all the seams before waxoiling it. I waxoiled the whole underneath the van whilst I was at it. Took the van outside yesterday evening and left it for the night. Woke up this morning and 1/2 a pint of water on the floor -- couldn't believe it, nearly had a nervous breakdown, I felt like I had just been buggered with a splintered fencepost.

Started running water down the windscreen again, and as Belly mentioned, right in the corner at the base of the windscreen there was balls of water bubbling through every 15 seconds:

That shiny speck at the tip of the arrow in the picture above, is water shining. Up closer:

Right in the corner, it is. Went outside and it coincides with these wires going into the windscreen:

Above is just for perspective. Just putting pictures for other peoples reference in case they have to go through this nightmare. Anyway, up closer:

On the last picture you can see that black sealer which is supposed to seal the wires, well it doesn't! Underneath that sealer there is some sort of white plastic retainer, well I can see this from both trhe inside and outside. I reckon if I pushed a wire in, it would poke out the other side.

Well anyway, I am now waiting for the sealer to dry which I have pushed up under the screen and around the wiring terminals, and am now going to try the water treatment and pray it is fixed once and for all. The water was flowing down the side of the screen, pooling up around this wiring terminal and flowing back in under the screen and down behind the dash, right in the corner.

Taken the N/S arch off, sealed all the joints, waxoiled everything. Sat it outside last night, 1/2 pint of water on the floor in the morning! Baffle carpet that goes up behind the dash on passengers side is soaking underneath, don't know what to do now.

I have been looking for this, but I cannot see any signs of damage at all. Everything looks completely untouched as it was from the factory, none of the blots/screws etc show any signs of ever having spanners/sockets/screwdrivers on them. Everything has all the original ford stickers everywhere, I can see no crimping/creases or paint fatigue.

Has anyone ever taken their dashboard out? Because I really need to expose the bulkhead to see the source, and I cannot with the dashboard and bulkhead baffle carpet in.

I have been having the same problem with water on drivers side footwell for ages. Finally got so fed up I cut out the plastic cover for the floorpan and binned the rotting insulation stuck to it. Spent many weeks with the cover off; just observing how the water came in. Read this site ( for which I am grateful) checked for drips inside did all the suggested tips.....nothing..... eventually I spent an uncomfortable hour or two inside whilst it rained staring at the floor pan. The water appeared to be coming in as a seep from the seam where the floorpan is welded to the inside wall skin right below the drivers side door. Where the actual water was coming from was about 2 inches up the drivers side wall just above where the wiring cables are clipped, there is a one inch square pad stuck over a factored hole in the drivers side wall. This hole is about 3 quarters of an inch by half an inch. Removed the pad and peered inside...i saw two metal skins. the wall skin and an inner one. between the two Ford had stuck some kind of a white sticky pad. The inner skin had water coming down it but the sticky pad was transferring the water to the insider door skin, out of the pad and down onto the floor pan. I used a screwdriver the lever the two skins apart better and removed the pad. This seems to have cured it.....Hope this helps.
