MK1 1.5DIN TO DOUBLE DIN MK2 HEATER CONTROL PANEL

Postby Mod your Transit » Sun Feb 10, 2013 11:17 am

here at mod your transit HQ an idea has been bouncing around the office.

We are thinking of making a whole heater/stereo panel for the mk1 2002-2006
With the 1.5 din stereo to convert to a mk2 double din stereo.

By doing this will save on fitting times and hassle.to fit a standard mk2 panel to a mk1 you need either change the while dash or hack cut trim your old dash.
There is a very good thread on here to help.

Will be a complete kit,so you can fit a ford 6000/6006cdc headunit from a mk2 connect
Or any double din aftermarket headunit.

Can come in different colours of finishes I.e carbon fibre style.

At the moment its just an idea and testing the water.

So is it a good idea or not?

A rough idea on price may help people to make their minds up

Yes but again price would play a part. I have an 06+ panel and heater controls waiting to go in but because of the work involved I keep putting it off as any cock may leave the van off the road. A simple straight conversation would be an easier and quicker mod.

I would be interested, but would want it soon and would not really wanna pay more than £40 with a Matt black finish to go with the rest of the plastics

Looking at the prices on ebay I think around £50 would be a good price.

The only stereo/heater control panels on ebay at the moment are mk1
For £30.00 so I would think a mk2 will be more IF one comes up for sale.
Then you will need a facial plate as well for £9.99

So that's around £50.00
Then you will either need to change the dash and door cards another £100ish

Or hack your old dash to fit

I know what route I would do
