Rear bumper partsremoval. Help please!

Postby Benbristol » Thu Nov 08, 2012 12:27 am

Hi there,

I'm looking at buying a new shape 09 Connect which has had a knock on the rear bumper.

The corner pieces are fine. The main section will need replacing. My question is, am I likely to only need to buy the mid plastic section which is under £100 or does the rear bumper have additional parts? The bumper feels very solid and I wonder whether the plastic just covers a metal section and if so, whether and how I replace this additional piece?

I hope my question makes sense !

Many thanks

what bit is it as the rear bumper middle section is metal or do you mean the top part with the raised bits which is plastic? either way both parts can be replaced on there own and is a 15 min job

Prob not a five minute job if the bolts are all rusty mine were and they are not the easyist things to get to . I gave up on replacing the metal bumper in the end on mine. (But i dont confess to being the best mechanic and know my limits LOL)

I did mine and it was a twat of a job to get off. Both bolts rusted up and difficult to get at. I put a grinder through the face of mine where the bolts were located and cut the heads off. Fitting was easy.
