Connect 1.8 TDCI

hi there i have a ford connect year 06 so many problems with this van but maybe related to one thing not sure any ways everyday i have to fill the van up with water with 2 Lt bottle when i go somewhere like drive the van for 2 hours water tank is empty the is no leak anywhere that i can see i check the pipes under the engine back of the engine nothing when i start the engine white smoke coming out with bad smell and some oil at the back of the exhaust thanks in advance

hi thanks for having me here the engine don't over heat at all

egr cooler,bridge the pipes is that something i can do or it has to be mechanics job :?:

:idea: If you're a plumber, then connecting two water pipes together, in an awkward place, should be right up your street :P :lol:

I'd say that's your egr cooler knackered. Do as mentioned above. That UFO thing you've taken a picture of, underneath that is a small 8 inch long cylinder which is the cooler. It will have two rubber coolant pipes (one at either end) take them off as connect them up and see how your water level is. If it still goes down then its more than likely head gasket, if it stays fills up then you've found your problem and you can either fit a new one or leave the two pipes together and blank the egr off with a plate.

ok i have connected the two pipes together and fill the cooler drive a round all day with it i didnt loose any water at all my heater works no more bad white smoke at all

so it it safe to leave it both connected like that without buying a new egr or do i really need to get a new egr and fit it on the van and connect them two pipes back on the erg thanks for all you help :D

Nice to hear its sorted. Have you blanks off the egr valve? eBay do the plates and its just two small bolts under the egr at the end of the ribbed metal hose. One that's done and if the pipes are secure I don't see why you need to worry about another egr cooler imo.

no i didn't blank the egr but i already have the black ready to go on there it works without blacking the egr? if i have to do it then i will thanks :D
