Transit connect 2006 milage 60k issue help please

Postby Emhpapa » Sat Feb 16, 2019 6:29 pm

Hi there am looking for some help advice of my 2006 transit connect milage 60k mint condition otherwise but slightly issue
I recently purchased not for too much as a run around for small jobs. Okay so my problem is idles rough in the morning and when I drive for a short while it goes aways on idle but come and goes when revs dropped after access for example come to a stop for example at a junction then goes away after few seconds while waiting to pull off again. Van ain't been driven that much by the bodywork etc you can tell it's still in good condition no rusts or etc on anywere and still super shine white.
I don't think it's the glow plugs because it starts fine and there is no smoke at all even if I pull hard no smoke at all. It's just bugging me because when warmed soon as idle drops does it for few seconds then goes away. I have a option to return it to seller as he confident that it's okay and says just drive it for a week or two and it may clear out if injector clogged. I do wanna keep it because it's pretty difficult finding one that still look pretty new ish for a 13 year old motor. Can it be egr. Should I try blanking. It also has a dpf and additional added later on its life I think these don't usually have them.
Fuel filter has been changed
Cam belt changed
Service done
Fan belt changed by seller who is a trader

Drives fine otherwise all gears and clutch etc no heavy banging noises at high rpm

No misfires

No codes

Anyone

First thing i'd be doing,is having the injectors tested.Generally around the sixty quid mark,at a diesel centre.

Hi there thank you yeah I will do that will try to hunt one out near me. I ordered a egr delete the other day after this post for 5 quid from eBay to perform a quick test it. I think it maybe the injector as well. I had close inspection yesterday and I can actually hear one injector cylinder 4 inject erratically like a slight pinging noise and can be heard and slightly felt when I place my fingers onto this injector.

Sounds like a dodgy injector. You can buy a leak off test kit from fleabay, for around 25 quid.Handy bit of kit to have,if you're a diesel enthusiast.

Thanks mate can't see it on fleebay but I think some silicone tube and couple of those plastic bottles may do it. Am not sure if it will need bleed etc after test. Can't see much info on goooble about it. The dealer is purchased it of is sort of being a arss at the moment he says it's fine it runs okay etc and said to me why you just change it out your own pocket telling me it's only70 quick to buy a injector. But that's not the point engine gearbox warranty am sure includes injector. Worse come to worse I will fix it i just haven't got time to mess with cowboy dealers who sell from there homes. I had a word with a local diesel specialist actually 2 and one quoted high lowest was £140 just to test injector that them removing it. Or its 15 quid per injector if I remove it. I don't mind removing my self I have worked on vag cars before changing cam chain etc that. Am just thinking if I was to do my self may cost a bit aswell if I was to need a injector puller and cleaning tool 4 the injector holes etc. One of the diesel specialist after explainin issue said it's sounds like a chuffing injector as I mentioned it sounds like one chuffs randomly no constantly can be heard when cold or fully but comes and goes one rev drops to idle for a few seconds then normal. He said it may need re-seating. But again would that effect idle who knows I have to check it out. I just had not had much luck with this it drives fines and pulls like what I think a van should and I have done over 500 miles with it how it is with no change. Seller has asked me to drop it off to London but he sound like one of those that will waist my time and say it's nothing and return ito to me waisting my time which I do not have much of because I need to work. Anyone know how to do the leak back test.
