Never done an aux before but I'm wanting to add one to my van. Im currently using a radio transmitter that plugs in the cigarette lighter but it's no use when I'm rural and it disconnects too much. I currently have the old original radio in my van. Think it's 2000 Traffic. The one that plays tapes

None of those older radios from the 2000 up to the older type of 6000cd can be modified for connecting a music player. The Mk7 6000cd does have an aux-in but it won't fit the older dash without cutting.

I was going to suggest the same, I bought a stereo wiring harness from Amazon which includes a blanking plate which fills the gap below the standard size stereo - I have a bluetooth stereo to fit which also has an aux in cable if I need it. I also bought some upgraded speakers.
