New Bilstein B6 Struts arrived last week. Now we're off to the Ford Performance Dealership for the install. We'll get the rear shocks installed a few weeks afterward.

Good to know. But what type of difficulty did one have doing this? is the wire harness the same assuming the seats have the same side air bags.

After months of searching and waiting, we're finally ready to take the van into a performance shop a few miles away from us. What we're going to be doing is removing the factory struts, remove the coil spring and strut mount. Then install the coil and strut mount onto the new Bilstein B6 struts. While this is being done, the tech will also install a set of the grease fitting duralast sway bar end links. if all each fails after both of these items have been installed, we're looking at new control arms and maybe new wheel barings. The lastly thing and I've bene hanging a Focus community searching for any info related to using a sway bar from the focus on a Transit Connect. Afterward and once everything has been installed we can then turn our attention towards new focus seats or new wheels & tires.

No. I had to strip the OEM seat down to the metal frame, then strip the leather seat the same and put the leather onto the OEM frame/base.

Not easy at all, but very doable if you are determined. It required no welding and no re-wiring. Because I used the same seat frame and base, the same exact wires and connectors were used to reconnect the seats to the system.

Premature Strut Failure: 2020 Ford Transit Connect XL [Solve

Postby LostinTransit » Sat Jul 30, 2022 10:41 pm

After months of acquiring parts then waiting for appointments, we finally had a chance to get a set of the new Bilstein B6 struts and Duralast sway bar end links installed on the van and what a BIG difference.. the 2 year old factory strut were completely shot. The tech said that these struts would not have lasted any longer as there was ZERO articulation or recoil to them. The van's weight was resting on just the strut supports and the coil springs. No wonder the van appeared to have a pronounced forward rake.

In order to correct install a set of struts on your 2020 TC or better is that one will need to remove the plastic cowl, windshield wiper hardware as well as the windshield wiper motor and for those who wondered, Yes the 2020 and newer TC's have strut tower braces already Installed.

Today or last weekend, the 50mm cheap skateboard wheels arrived via Amazon. Once home, I measured out the distance in the middle of the wheels. I'm sending these wheels to a buddy in VA who has a great bandsaw setup. He's going to cut these wheel in half thus turning 4 wheels into 8 thin wheels. We're using these plastic wheels as spacers for the front seats. There's always been a problem with the angle of the seats and we're going to correct that very soon. adding these spacers 1/2 half at the time and checking the seats angle.

Spent the rest of the day chasing my tail...

Yes, a 19x8.5 5x108 ET40 Axe CS Lite w/ 245/40/R19 tires does fit on a 2020 Ford Transit Connect with ZERO scrubbing and plenty of clearance all around.

Well it would do, because the rolling radius should still be the same.
