MK2 Connect, no 12v socket anywhere?

Postby Ripp » Fri Sep 30, 2022 10:21 am

Can't seem to find a 12v socket in my '17 Connect Limited, theres USB sockets in the front instead where possibly a 12v socket would be and also a round blanking plug in the rear offside interior wheel arch cover where I also assume a 12v socket could have been installed.

I assume my only option here is to see if the wiring for a socket is actually in the rear wheel arch and make sure the fuse is present in the fuse box?

Well there doesn't seem to be any wiring behind there for a socket. Not exactly sure how I'm going to get a socket in the back then, anyone else managed to fit one in the back that turns off with the ignition?

Probably should have said this is a short wheel base van.

All I see behind the rear interior panel is the parking module.

I've not had a Connect since 2018, but so far as I remember there was a 12v round plug in the small console beneath the gearstick, next to a cup holder. If yours doesn't have it, the wiring and plug may be there underneath the console :?: :?

Mine has 2x usb slots in that round plug by the cup holder.

I've ordered the plug that I linked to so hopefully that'll fit ok.

When you get your socket, it may be worth looking to see if it fits straight in, and plugs in, to where the USB's are now.
I had a socket adaptor with 2 USB outlets in mine

They'll be fixed in from underneath, I had to change one in my Fiesta van, which I now remember was a PITA to get at from under the console

Ah that'll be it, they can stay there anyway. I just need to fit the 12v socket in the back and that'll be fine for me. I take the USBs up front are just for charging and not data of any kind?

I think your on the right track here Al,
But I’m guessing someone has shoved one of those aftermarket cig lighter to twin usb adaptors into the factory cig lighter socket,
Not that its the actual Ford usb/aux in.
It should have cig lighter then 2xusb separate.
This will depend on spec of van,and if van has 2 or 3 front seats for centre console layout.
Some have the usb underneath the middle seat base which lifts up,(3 front seats)
Some also have a aux in at very rear of centre console..

I'll go get a photo shortly. My seats don't lift up (3 seat version) and the Stereo manual says something about updating firmware via USB, just wondering where that usb might be.

If you have 3 front seats,
The outer / N/S one should fold forward / flat.

The base of the middle seat should lift up.
And the backrest should also fold forward and down.

You van will absolutely have a 12v socket in the front, usually next to cup holder in floor/centre console.
