I replaced all the valves with new and re-lapped them of course, and I am sure i put the shims back in their right place but i could have made a mistake.
I'll have to bite the bullet and measure the gaps up and note it all down and, when i take the camshaft out, see if there is something glaringly obviously wrong with the order i put the shims in.
I'll do what you suggest and turn the lobes so they're pointing skyward when i measure.
In light of the fact that all the inlets are too tight, you don't think it could be related to a timing issue? or is this issue i've discovered solely related to the shim thickness and nothing to do with the timing belt?
I'm trying to work it out in my head weather the coincidence of all of the inlets being tight is a symptom of some sort of timing error i've made? or is it just a plain simple fact the shims are wrong for the new valves?...i'm shocked the difference made by using new valves has made to the tolerances
