Gearbox compatibility query

Hi - gearbox is shot in my 2010 LWB Transit Connect. I picked up a replacement box locally on Facebook and thought it would be ok as the case numbers match (XS4R7F096).
When I got it home I noticed that it has an electrical component near to the passenger side driveshaft aperture - I have attached a photo with a blue arrow pointing to the component in question.
My existing gearbox doesn't have this - this area just appears to be blanked off.
Otherwise on first look the gearbox seems to match ok.....
Does anyone know what this electrical component is?

Can I go ahead and fit the gearbox and just not plug this in, or am I asking for trouble?
Would be a shame if I can't use the replacement box as it seems to be in good order, but the last thing I want to do is fit it and then find out I have problems and have to do it all again!

Any thoughts/advice would be appreciated, thanks.

thanks for reply - just noticed an error in my post - i said the component in question was next to the passenger side driveshaft aperture....sorry that's wrong its the drivers side driveshaft aperture. Apologies been a long day!
I don't think its the reverse switch - could be a speed sensor?
But why does my gearbox not have it - does it get this info from somewhere else??!!

Could be that the ABS brake sensors give that info out ...otherwise im guessing.
did all connects have ABS ...if some didnt ..then ..that's a speed sensor perhaps

Yes, i think probably, it is a non abs gearbox ..think you can just leave it disconnected ...and your speedo will read off the wheel abs sensors

if it is one, you'll see the little drive shaft as in pics when you take it off .

As a used genuine ford part .its probably worth £20 if you sell it on ebay

That's great news Mark thanks for the reply, makes sense. Hopefully I didn't waste my money then - will find out in the next few days when I put it in...fingers crossed.
