BG Products for a 2020 Connect Transmission Service

Postby LostinTransit » Wed Feb 28, 2024 7:09 pm

After 2 years and 30K miles of searching, We've finally located a transmission shop who has the correct connectors and the BG Products we want in the van. Our search started back in 2022 at 30K miles and since then have racked up another 30K miles all in an effort to locate a shop who could service our transmission with the BG Products line. Along our searches, 3 dealerships decline to offer a transmission service until 100K miles.. Tomorrow morning We're taking a drive to the shop just for estimate and according to the shop manager, the estimate is based on if they techs can get to the trans cooler lines just so the cooler could also be flushed and filled correctly. I like this shop as it's family owned and very clean. But let's how they can handle the trans shuddering issue. We're viewing this as a routine maintenance and at every 30K miles we'll do it all over again just like an oil change.

Successful service yesterday using only BG products. The tech informed me after the first inspection that our transmission fluid was extremely low so it was good we finally had a chance to have this done. Now the van is set up for a routinely 30K miles trans service through the BG Product warranty. The tech drained and cleaned the system with the BG products cleaners and added "BG Low Viscosity Full Synthetic ATF". Two days worth of driving back and forth to work, the van shifts smoothly and more efficiently. What puzzles me, is that the tech said the fluid was extremely low back when we first checked the 8 speed trans. We've never had the fluid checked nor has the van been taken to the dealership for service. The only thing I can come up with is that the fluid level was always too low direct from the new car lot back in 2020. it's obvious something has changed and for the better. So if you're driving a Transit Connect and start having shuddering issues, best have the trans serviced. But be warned, that the dealership (at least in our area) will not serves our van until the 100K mile marker.. thus we had t locate a shop with the adapters and equipment to handle the job. We're both very pleased we finally had a chance to have this done. the van is very responsive with smooth shifting.
