connect cutting out?

hi all i have a 2004 transit connect tdi not TDCI
the problem is it starts up no problem but when revving it it cuts out? any ideas
checked for air leaks but thats as far as i've got

by cuts out do you mean engine stops altogether and you have to restart it

or do you mean engine reverts to tick over

hi metalworker yes cut out completely! i've now changed the fuel filter but still the same! are there many sensors on it and also is the throttle pedal electric as that was mentioned by a mate?

Think the throttle pedal fault would revert to tickover.
There is a fault on early ones, it can wear a hole in the fuel pipe as it bends under the bulkhead..does not leak, it draws air in ..it's somewhere in the cross member area.
Think that's where you should be looking first.

After that its the ignition lock that can wear out and turn off.

If not any of them

Then Try an earths and positives service...SPECIALLY important on a very old one like yours

Take them all off, including: to engine ..to body , to alternator , to starter, check and clean battery terminal inner surfaces.

Clean them all up ..wire brush ..abrasive pad ..and an engineers tap down threaded holes.

If non of that works ..then you'll have to get forscan (free) for pc laptop and an interface cable ..

and then read the codes
