Transit 2018 connect pats fault

Postby neillv6 » Fri Oct 18, 2024 9:29 am

In need of some help desperately if any body can.
My 2018 rhd transit connect 1.5 has developed an issue in that the van won’t start. As soon as I turn the key, it comes up immobiliser active, check handbook.

Scanned it and it comes up with B10D7-87 pats system fault.

I’ve had both keys checked and there fine. I’ve also replaced the immobiliser pick up ring at the ignition and still no joy. Checked all the fuses. This all seems to have happened since my batttery completely died and it’s been replaced for a like for like.

Does anybody have a wiring diagram for the wires coming from the pick up ring back to the BCM? Just want to check there’s no issues with the wires. I’ve had an auto locksmith come out and he’s saying for some reason the bcm isn’t communicating with the pick up ring. He used a device that picks up the coil energising at the ignition when the key is turned. Said the coil wasn’t energising for some reason.

Hope somebody can help.

Thanks

Sorry i know little about this, and no ones come along to help - all i could do is search on the net with your code

The most detailed answer comes up as this one (ONE PARAGRAPH BELOW). ALSO, in another post somewhere , says there is a key programming / learning function in Forscan.

FORSCAN - which is FREE software that you download to a PC laptop..you buy the interface cable - perhaps a tenner.
You must join the Forscan forum ..again free, to get the software and more answers.

Foescan is what is recommended on this forum.

"If You're getting a fault code B10D7 on Your Ford Transit, it's indicating a key programming failure for the passive anti-theft system (PATS), or a faulty body control module (BCM). You're likely also dealing with Your Transit being immobilized, since it's not seeing the key as being compatible with Your system. A bit more specifically, when the BCM initializes the key progRamming state, it activates the transceiver to read the key in the ignition key cylinder. If it recognizes this as a valid PATS key, the BCM goes ahead and puts it in its memory. This code indicates this process failed. Was Your battery disconnected for a long period or dead That'll trigger this. Also, a fuse blowing can also give You this same error. Check those first. I believe on Your model Ford it'll actually be the same as for the ABS, the 10A fuse 20. Additionally, verify all Your cables are good and the connections are tight. If it's neither of those two things, the next thing to check is going to be the sensors around the key barrel (ie, the antenna at the switch), assuming You've definitely ruled out the key itseLFAs being the culprit."

Many thanks for the info you provided. It seems I may need to get the pats system reprogrammed then. All fuses are good. Only thing I’ve had an issue with really in the battery died and was replaced. I read elsewhere that this can cause the pats system to do what I’m experiencing and apparently it just needs pats reprogramming. Something I’m. It sure I can do as I only have forscan. Probably need somebody with fdrs.

Thanks again
