New Transit Connect (conaddy)

Has anyone driven or have an opinion on the new Connect? I'm considering a new van due to LEZ frustrations. Seen one on Friday but i was only whelmed. Didn't drive it or anything as the sales people suck the life out of you.

Never mind

forget what i said about petrol i was talking then about the 1.0l petrol ecoboost engine that is problematic

You need to do all your research on VW.

For everyone ...

23 Aug 2024 — The Ford Tourneo Connect is actually a re-badged Volkswagen Caddy, which is on the same platform as a VW Golf.

Didn't know that, now i do ..when they start coming here with any problems, ill tell them to go to a VW forum :D

Honestly cant tell you if a ford engine or a VW engine in it ..as they still call it ECOBLUE, its now 2 litres ..which, if ford made. will be the dreaded wet belt engine

i see what you mean by conaddy --- you mean CON - Caddy, well, is it a con, when you are getting a VW, better i think as far as rusting is concerned in its later life. well they used to be better .

Nothing to me is any good these days ..too complicated and too much to go wrong, and especially un-fixable as regards some DY work.
Will have electric power steering...
ADBLUE
Electric hand brake - i hear five years in british salt laden roads will finish an electric hand brake
To name a few things that can costs a lot to put right... not a keeper beyond 40,000
..So not for me.

Yes, those were my thoughts.
I hate electric handbrake.
I like the double door mirror, not now available.
I like my 3 seats. Not now available.
I'm assuming a 2 litre vw engine. If not then I'm not touching any wet belt. I think the 1.5 diesel also available but not sure if its the current one.
I didn't get into much with the salesman as he was a bit vague, like he didnt know and he was doing that thing where they keep you waiting several times so I just left.
I'm thinking maybe just buy a very late model of the current vehicle. I love my current van, just LEZ pain in the A%$e.

found this here:

https://www.ford.co.uk/support/how-tos/ ... tions-faqs

"You mention Ford EcoBlue and EcoBoost engines in the new vehicle. Are these Ford-developed powertrains?
The powertrains in the all-new Tourneo Connect are shared with the VW Caddy, and have been developed by Volkswagen. The engines are named EcoBlue and EcoBoost to ensure consistent branding with other models in the Ford passenger car range which offer powertrains with similar technical features and performance.

so..so apart from a few bits of plastic trim and tin panels. its mostly VW any problems ..go to vw forum

Looks like they're even built in the same VW factory.

I would choose the Courier, because it's still 100% Ford, you can get them as panel vans and it looks better than the current Connect. It actually looks pretty nice!
Not that Ford's a staple in quality, but at least it's not VAG

A LWB Courier would be a killer. Kinda pointless in its current setup.

Now throw in a PHEV drive train and it would rule the market.
