Transit connect 1.5 non start

Postby Losing will to live » Wed Jan 01, 2025 9:54 pm

Hi bought a non running transit apparently was running accident damage then after being parked up wouldn’t start
It’s clearly been played with 83k on clock
Turns over no interest in firing , checked belt found brand new check timing ok , removed cam thinking it had spun the lobes as usual checked against new cam look identical but had pitting so fitted new one timed up nothing
Tried easy start nothing
No codes
Can pump be 180 out although I’ve tried easy start
Has anyone got any ideas losing will to live

Check this video out ..same engine - different car

Sorry - i know its very long, frustrating and tedious to watch ..but he does go through everything you are likely to encounter ..

Probably better than me trying to explain in thousands of words over multiple posts

and you perhaps should only be doing diagnostics Forscan, the best dianostics for your engine , which is free software that you download to a laptop..you buy the interface cable.
You must join the Forscan forum ..again free, to get the software and more answers.

Pump timing OUT ..not on a TDCI .it just pumps the pipes up to full pressure..the injectors are electronic and are timed, based on crank and camshaft sensors. the decision to squirt diesel or not, happens in the Pcu ..which commands each injector.

on a TDDI 1.8, made mostly before 2007..it can be out, if you time it wrong....the pump is timed on the cambelt.

I meant lower timing chain not cambelt.

Checked timing
Pulled cam and replaced, checked rockers , valve height all the the same

Sorry I'm more of a mechanical guy ..and this stuff I'm not up to scratch with..also my ownership s 1.8 tddi ..but i can only point you in the hopefully right direction

--- There is a crankshaft sensor as well

You said you'd tried easy start, so not a fueling issue.

other things

immobiliser fault . I cant give you any help with this, as i don't know

Ignition switch fault
- sometimes common on switches that had a bunch of weight hanging from them on the key ring that has worn them out . may turn over, but other circuits in switch fail to activate.

Blown fuse or faulty relay

You can find out where the actual fuses and relays are for the things that effect engine running ..you may find that there are identical relays that you can swap over to confirm if at fault.

This information may be in the BEMM Manual
, BODY - EQUIPMENT- MOUNTING- MANUAL--- only available for 2018 vans, I don't know how far it goes back ..this is publication that may cover as far back as 2014 ..you'll have to read through it...

https://www.fordpro-specialvehicles.com ... plate=TCON

multiple bad earths, battery connections, bad battery, etc
- worth checking ..a system that has electronics needs a minimum voltage of 11.75v to properly function.
