Transit connect offside rear wheel arch leak

Postby daniel13 » Sun Jan 05, 2025 4:10 pm

My van has been in my garage for the last 4-5 weeks whilst I’ve been sorting another water leak which was filling up the footwells. Now that I’ve finally fixed that I’ve noticed a leak within the office panel. I’ve attached photos but as you can see it’s coming through a hole in the seam. I know that if I seal that up it should stop my leak but my question is where could that be coming in from in the first place. The photo shows the front of offside rear wheel arch. Roof bungs are bone dry and I’ve already sorted the rear vents but the van hasn’t gone on the road since I’ve fixed and dried out the van.

Thanks
Dan

mk1 or mk2

if mk1 the most likely place is the wheel arch plastic spats clip holes.

The rear ones have clips that hold it on with seals on them

These clips are one use only, once you prise the spat off , you have to buy some more!

last time i looked, from ford are £9_75 each !!!!

So you have to find some off ebay --- they are there ..just as good and considerably less money to buy

This is not a recommendation, im just showing the clips with black rubber seals, you can wade through thousands, with and without rubber seals ..but choose the ones with the rubber seals on them, the ones without are for the front. note mk1 ..I don't know anything about mk2 clips if same or different

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/373419519431?

note clips in cold weather are brittle and break ..so put them in a cup of boiling water and be quick

Thanks for the reply it’s a mk2 late 2015. The van hasn’t moved I’ve been spraying the drivers side with water to check for leaks on my repair and i noticed the panel was filling up slowly from that hole but I can’t for the life of me think where it’s running down from or running in from to be coming through that bead. The top of the inner wheel arch is dry so it’s just coming in through where that bead has opened slightly. I’ll have to pull the wheel arch liner off and check those plastic clips you mentioned.

Thanks

Dan

sorry don;t own one of the 2015's so have no idea

my info above covers up to 2012 only! or maybe as late as 2014 uk models

i covered a lot of ford bulletins in this thread about leaks ..they put up a while back by a member called Paul in another thread...he does not specify which models some refer to ..perhaps read them all ..and maybe there is one for yours
