Yes it should be done, even if you find no damage, time is not on your side - a service history with oil changes done at 6000 miles would make me rest easier ..but if you don't know that, then presume that its been done at fords 15,000 miles which will not help a wet belts longevity.

The top "dry belt" should also be changed.

some say here to convert to chain, whilst you are at it-- but that is down to your resources and mechanical knowledge.

Yeah - if when its taken off and if found to be deteriorated, put pictures on here to show its condition.
will serve as a warning to all or give people a general idea what they can or cannot get away with.

Thanks ... just been to ford as im not sure to trust a garage with no experience of them , anyhow they have it down as a 5.5
hr job plus parts , at £95 per hour plus vat
.... so just waiting for a full estimate to have both belts and water pump done ..

I will make sure I'm sitting down when they tell me though ..

The full estimate from ford , for wetbelt and waterpump and cambelt is £2300 Inc vat ...

So I've found a TDCI specialist that will do it for under 1k ... wetbelt to chain conversion

Mine is 2011 and defo left the factory with a wetbelt ...

Hi Painter4,

You say that you have had the conversion done. Can you provide details for the company that did the job?

Was this company recommended to you etc?
