Transit Connect 08 - Leak in block or thermostat?

Hi all,

Found my coolant had drained out. Have just topped it up and have found a small leak behind what I think is the thermostat.

Could anyone advise what needs to be replaced here? Have watched a few videos of thermostat replacements but they dont seem to connect to the block at this point. Im thinking a gasket might just need to be replaced but am unsure which.

The thermostat housings are made out of brittle plastic that degrades with age

They don't recommend just changing the stat by its self ..you must buy the whole housing which includes the stat.

if you even disturb this stat housing it could end up busted ....so buy a new before one you before you start the job

Well to "me", whether that be the way they show the pics or if there are actual differences, looks like or is it illusion that there are several designs when looking at ebay ....so its up to "YOU" to ID yours when looking.
