2019 Transit Connect 1.5L EcoBlue - Belt Change

Postby tom.forsey » Fri Feb 14, 2025 1:55 pm

Afternoon all,

Looking at a 2019 connect with a 1.5L EcoBlue engine which I believe has a wet belt. Van currently has 75k miles on it so will want to replace soon.

What are the options for replacement, have seen a few posts on here about upgrading to a chain rather than replace like for like? does anyone also have any experience or an idea of the cost for this work to be done?

The 1.5L Ecoblue (or the 1.6L) doesn't have a wet belt, just a normal dry timing belt. At 75k miles, it's within the service schedule for replacement, but, as it's new to you, and you don't know how it's been treated, it would probably be wise to replace it anyway.

There are no parts available to change to a chain because this engine never had one in the first place, (that was the old 1.8TDCi!)

The even better news is that dry belt replacement is far cheaper than wet belt 8)
