No adjuster for the rear brake shoes??

Hi,
I have a 2011 Transit Coonect 90T230. When I try to take off the rear brake drum, its loose but won't come off, probably due to worn drum so the shoes are holding it back. But when I check on the back side, there is no inspection plug to pull off to access the adjuster. Where it should be, there is only the ABS sensor. There are two other inspection holes though, one for the handbrake cabel and one for the wearage of the shoes. How am I supposed to get the drum off ??

Think your only choice is to hit the drum sideways with a lump hammer. all around it circumference.. being careful not to chip off the rim edges,,,they will break off ..just don't hit it there .

then you'll probably have to buy new drums anyway ,.,,,,as if its like that this time, what's it going to be

you could also undo the two bolts that hold the wheel cylinder on at the back..that may give it enough movement to pull it off

Thank's, I'll try loosening the cylinder. But are these brakes really designed that bad? I've had several other old cars with drum brakes, never run into this before, that you actually cannot loosen the auto-adjustment mechanism..

Modern vehicles aren't designed for easy repair and maintenance, the only answer is preventative maintenance, replacing parts before they are completely worn out.
All my vehicles have rear discs these days, but I used to grind off the lip on the inside of the drum before it became a problem to remove.

Yes as Al above plus i used to get a brake return spring kit as you damage them forcing the drum off when I did my mk6 I change everything cylinders/shoes /handbrake cable/ hub seal and never had to touch them again think I did 50.000 miles before I sold it.

Think its because of "no room" for hole because of the larger wheel bearing you have.
..So your old stuff had ..a take apart-able wheel bearing with little taper roller bearings that you had to service every-time you had it apart, this included getting the right tightness on it and the right amount of grease -- too much grease and it overheats ..too little or dirty contaminants and it don't last long . adjusted wrong - don't last long.
So now you have bigger wheel bearings that are sealed, later ones contain the antilock / abs ring, so more improved and should be longer lasting with "set clearance" you never have to adjust.
Tip.. when they do go ..they will probably go at way past 100,000 miles plus- --- don't go buying chinese replacements ..always brand names like ford or European or Japanese brand names.

so you're going to working around these bearings ..remember that when you are clobbering it .
