MK6 2010 - Stuck park, no power windows, no windshield wiper

Postby Deneteus » Mon Jul 07, 2025 4:26 pm

I have a 2010 FTC XLT that my friend parked the van at Wendys and went inside to eat and came back out to the van not being able to come out of park and the windows won't roll down.

We got it back to the house and I found the following issues.

- No power to the brake lights. (Replacing the brake light switch did nothing. Under dash fuse box, no fuses blown.)
- No power windows.
- No power to the windshield wipers.
- Stuck in park.

I tried swapping the relays under the drivers side dash as well. The only other issue the van had before this was a failed upstream O2 sensor that I just replaced a week earlier and the radio won't turn off.
I made sure to charge the battery to 100% before testing and also I disconnected the power for ten minutes to reset while I was checking the fuses.

Can you tell me where specifically I should check for any other fuses or relays. I googled and saw other people have the same issue but no solution was posted.

I just checked the FAQ but I did not find this specific problem.

You've posted this in the transit connect section

You say: MK6 in the header

if it does turn out, that it's a connect ..ive no idea anyway ..as auto boxes are not what i know a lot about.

i can try and find out ..but need to know; what is the make and model of the automatic transmission to do so

Cant do anything strait away though, as our site we use for reference; http://www.catcar.info/ is down and has been for days.

well i think the fuse you are looking for is fuse number 1 (40 amp ) in the engine compartment fuse box ...this powers the central fuse box inside the cab.

this info from the owners manual

In the Battery Junction Box (BJB) diagram Fuse 2 is the 40A for the CJB. It's not blown though. https://charm.li/Ford/2010/Transit%20Connect%20L4-2.0L/Repair%20and%20Diagnosis/Power%20and%20Ground%20Distribution/Relay%20Box/Application%20and%20ID/Battery%20Junction%20Box%20%28BJB%29/

What I did find by taking out all of the relays and the fuses was that the Ignition Relay under the hood was at 675 ohms.
I take pictures of everything to make sure I don't forget where anything is but I also used foam to put all the parts in the order they are in the fuse box.

Now I need to pull all the fuses and relays under the dash to make sure I didn't miss anything. The only other thing I can check is the ground in the A pillar.

None of the rear brake bulbs are blown.

I don't know if i can help , as your connect being USA model with 2.0 petrol engine ... i have no knowledge of ..and everything like fuses etc may be different to the manuals i have.

Your manuals link also has me wishing for you to convert it into a pdf file

i started out by pointing you in the direction of the engine bay fuse box that supplied the power to the one inside under the dash ... with info from European models ..but i suppose its similar but not the same, as you have found out.
You had so many items not functioning i thought that may be common cause. that being the fuse in the engine compartment.

2010 ..is 15 years old ...and earths (grounds as you call them ) are chief suspects due to corrosion,

SO, I went the whole way on google AI asking why a transmission should be stuck in park ...the brake light switch is the one it came back with, along with other things .

You've already checked that out
..............................................................................................

Another cause that came up

Faulty ignition switch, worn ignition key tumbler,

NOW THIS IS A COMMON ISSUE ON ALL FORDS, and many circuits depend on it... so multiple faults which you have ..may be due to this

so I think that is the next area you should look at .

Thanks for the response. I checked all of the fuses and relays and found that the Ignition Overload Relay was faulty. I also removed, cleaned, and tested every single fuse under the hood and under the dash and removed the 3rd brake light switch.

I actually had a plan to clean the A pillar ground where the brake pedal connects.

There is a possibility that the brakelight switch I purchased from Autozone just does not work. I will see if I can do something to check the ignition. I just made 2 more keys a few months ago. I haven't seen any issue with it but I do need to replace the gas tank lock.

By the way you can download the entire sites files as a zip. https://charm.li/bundle/Ford/2010/Trans ... 20L4-2.0L/

i did download them
opened up zip and unpacked
but displaying them has me on a menu on firefox going through an index ..pressing on the sub menus and ending up with firefox cannot display this item.

i don't know what an ignition overload relay is ... unless its a type of MCB
