Po66DD Engine Service Mk2 Connect 1.5TDI

Postby MarkyC312 » Sat Dec 28, 2024 6:49 pm

Hi all,

been scratching my head on this for a while so i really hope somebody can help please.

i have a Ford Transit Connect, 66 plate, 1.5TDI everytime I go up a hill i have the Engine Service light come on.

So it looks like a Oil Pressure Switch issue, and the problem i have is finding the sensor, some say on the oil filter head, some say on the block.

looking at various sites for replacement sensors, 1 is either grey and the other is black.

I think i have the sensor that is on the block (is this the only one) just below the dipstick to the right of the alternator and to the left of the turbo, is there a procedure to get to this as it looks a nightmare to get to.

i cant find this at all, i have a new one and want to try and fit it

or is it this one which is located on the block

any help please would be amazing

thanks Mark

showing part number 1866362

and in the side of the block

here

https://www.catcar.info/ford/?lang=en&l ... EzMw%3D%3D

1866362 shows up on ebay as over £40 non gen, cheapest genuine ford is £64.99, so you better be sure.

best go through the site yourself, as i not entirely familiar with the 1.5

Cheers thanks for the info, my guess it is the more expensive unit, just not sure why the grey one is suggested,

Does anyone have any idea as to the procedure to fitting the pressure switch. if i squint and turn my head at a funny angle i can just see it on the block. It is just below the dipstick. to the right of the Alternator, left of the Turbo and above the AC Compressor, dont really want to take any of these off if i can help it, so if anyone has any tips i would be grateful.

cheers

Before we go any further , are you sure the service symbol is pointing to oil pressure

or does it just need a reset because an oil change is due

if so follow this video

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kwL7hUcxaeI

really hope someone comes and helps you out, if it is the oil pressure switch that needs changing , worth searching youtube videos if it does ..i would imagine the focus has the same 1.5 tdci engine ..and if no connect videos are found, maybe a focus one would hold the answers.

mines a 1.8 mk1 so not similar at all

That's a good point.

To be honest my next move before taking the whole engine apart was to reset the codes. When i look at the Fault code it mentions the oil pressure switch is stuck, however could also mean the Oil filter is full of sludge, so i have replaced the oil and filters, will reset the codes and see what happens. As the fault only appears when i go up hill!!, which is rather annoying.

cheers guys

just a few pointers

its not unusual for people to check the oil and then fail to put the dip stick back and loose it .
you then have to find another dipstick ..."The exact correct one" if its not this will result in overfull or under-fill of oil ..;under-fill could see oil starvation going up hills.

on the custom forum here, a recent post about low oil pressure fault, it was found that the pressure sensor was leaking oil through the centre of it.

what is the mileage .

Sorry for not replying

been struggling with this fault and trying to find the location of the oil pressure switch, i did see on another post that somebody changed the oil to 5w 30 and that did the job.

the van has 170k on the clock, but it has had a recon engine, so not sure what mileage that has done

all the best

if this is your engine you can see it between the cooler and the filter

Hi Metalworker,

thanks for the info but i dont think that is the one.

i think the pressure switch is on the block, my van is a 2016 1.5Ltr TDI - will try and find the type of engine tomorrow.

i think this is the pressure switch, just above the alternator and too the bottom left of the turbo, looks a nightmare to get too

any advice is greatly appreciated

sorry , i'm blind .. as i cant get into the site catcar.info

see link above. to catcar

There are two versions of this engine .. one with single overhead cam and another with double overhead cam and two variants 1.6 and 1.5 .. the picture link i gave you was the double over head cam. DOHC

Nothing more i can do. but send you into cat car info .. all the other pics of that engine i could find had loads of pipes , what nots and things covering where i should be looking,. I thought maybe the DOHC engine had the same set up, as its supposed to have the same engine block.

Unless someone else comes along and points it out on the catcar site .. i'm no help at the moment

AS A GENERAL RULE .. IF THE OIL PRESSURE SWITCH IS ON THE BLOCK, IT WILL BE INLINE WITH THE CENTRE OF THE CRANKSHAFT ... AS THAT IS WHERE THE MAIN OIL GALLERY RUNS ON MOST ENGINES
