Ford Transit Connect 2005 temperature

Postby Bisher » Sat Sep 13, 2025 11:19 am

Hi All

I bought a new Transit Connect in March.

The running temperature is about 100-109 degrees depending on journey.

Ever since I've had it, the radiator fan will stay on when I switch off the engine. There is also a bad smell like plastic burning.

There's no warnings on the dash.

Never had this with any other van I've owned unless sitting in traffic in hot weather.

Does anybody else have this with their van?

Many thanks

So there is definitely something wrong and how do you know the temperature its running at .

What's the dashboard gauge showing ..... if needle is strait up and in the middle its sort of 90 degrees.
The fan should not be on . generally they are overcooled when working properly.
i think you may need a new thermostat ...... NOTE : you buy the whole housing with the stat.

This is the first thing to do ... as for all i know, you may have a head gasket problem, so eliminate the thermostat as the problem first .

How my 1.8 tddi runs
Most of the winter the needle never travels beyond a third of the gauge, summer can sometimes be in the middle pointing strait-up on the hottest days - very rare.

and ive hope ive answered this correctly .. as you did say "new" is it 2005 or 2025 my answer is for 2005

You mentioned you "bought a new Transit Connect", but the heading says 2005...is it new...or more than 20 years old..??

If it's new, it will still be under warranty.

I’m a doughnut, yes 2025 model.

Has digital dash and shows coolant temp and oil.

Coolant is pretty steady at 90 and engine up to 109

Think I will get it back for a check.

2025 - We are sorry, as we sort of cant help you .. as it's A VW CADDY badged as a ford, it's got a VolksWagon engine that we know nothing about.

Try the VW forums

I've no idea if the software we use on a laptop "forscan", meant for fords will plug into it or read it either.

and what knobby says .. if it's that new its still under warranty.
