What ever mileage is on the van, if over ..i don't know .. say 80,000 or more, note: all your tuning will go to waste if the inside of the manifold and the intake runners and backs of valves are not cleaned up, trouble is to do that on a
20 year old van is opening up a can of worms As both the inlet manifold and the exhaust are paired together (studs hold both on) so have to come off together .,. you will encounter
rusty seized studs and nuts that certainly will snap, also being at the back of the engine .. with EGR cooler in the way , a pig to get at and even see what you are doing.
I have searched quite a while back for information about this old style EGR .. but can find very little written about it on this forum, no ones attempted to clean ,.. they just replaced the whole manifold like for like when they were available
NEW...
which they are not now,, there were some ...brand new on ebay that looked completely different than the old and the new style, which left me confused.
Very slow talker and tedious to listen to , but you'll see whats what on this manifold
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DcgNOuDDSwAThe reason i haven't been pulling mine apart is, i only do 2000 miles a year, don't know the future with this government.. cant see it causing me a problem in 20,000 (20 years).. so says to me: mark leave well alone. don't open this potential can of worms . also probably has occurred already - bracket on downpipe breaks weld .. caused by exhaust hanger rubbers busting in the past -- indicated by sounding like a tractor sometimes on a acceleration......... good time to fix this.
