re flat battery charging light on connect 03

Postby connectvanman » Thu Sep 18, 2008 11:51 pm

Hi probably Alternator but other suggestions sought for 03 connect 75p TDDi battery charging light came on whilst driving. Naturally battery flat when next tried to start. Jumped started ok only getting just over 11 volts to battery so not charging. Light went out for a while but came back on after a while, again flat battery. Is the alternator a pig to change, seems to be run via an extension on the end to the Belt. Any help gratefully received Cheers.

Find the wiring plug on the back of the alternator, and check the wires going in to the plug, especially the blue one. You may need to expose the wires up to 6" back from the plug, by cutting back the loom covering.
The wires on these are prone to internal breaks, which can give you an intermittent charge

As above, most likely a broken wire to 3 pin smart charge plug, armouring rubs wire insulation, water gets in then wire rots & breaks.

There is a jumper loom available to replace a section if needed.
