Postby Tdci_boy » Sat Dec 13, 2008 6:30 pm

One of My customers has a Connect that he bought second hand, it has central locking but no remote fob, should it have one, can I programe one to work or will it need to go to the stealers. :?:
Transit Custom Limited H1 L2 DCIV, now converted to van by removing the seats etc so now twin side loading doors, fully kitted out with Sortimo racking, always loaded to capacity & averages 35mpg :D

Hi all connects have central locking, but some are made that they cannot have a remote they are know as a 'lead in' model. You are best to check with Ford if it can take a remote or not, they should be able to tell you free of charge.

Isn't there a simple test with the key to establish whether your connect has the remote module? Something like switching the ignition on/off 8 times. I'm sure I read it here somewhere as my connect didn't come with a fob.

Yes thats right.
Mine didnt have a remote fob so I got one off ebay for £18, a genuine one brand new.
Just put your key in the ignition, turn it from position 1 to position 2 and back 8 times.
If your van is capable of having a remote fob all the locks will cycle through a sequence.
If you had a working fob, then you just press any button on it and it syncronises with your locking system and thats it job done.
If you want to know before buying a fob then just do the key turning thing. If the locks cycle then you have it!
nothing will be reset so dont worry.
Hope this helps, Dave
