Hi, I like what you did to your van. I had an mk6 done similar, but had to sell it. :( now a few months later I have big plans for a connect looking at spending up to 3k euros for one. Then trying to make as close to a transformer as I can. Just wondering which model is best around 04 or 05. Once I know that I can begin and update with photos.

What do you mean as close to a transformer? Sounds very different.
You should get a good one for that sort of money, if your looking to do it up then make sure its a low mileage and have the optional extras like electric windows and maybe aircon if its your thing.
Personally i chose a Tddi rather than a Tdci as i know the problems and costs of the Delphi fuel system when they go wrong which they tend to do alot.

Hey nice van. I had a similar looking mk6 but I had to sell :( now a few months on I am looking for a tidy connect around 04 05 to make into a transformer. Just wondering if anyone here can recommend any particular model. I want a two berth camper so was thinking Lwb but I need good mpg. I have done two campers before and used the old faithful ply but this time I'm gonna try out fibre glass, perspex and some other light weight strong material I can get my hands on. I will be keeping you all posted so any ideas welcome and maybe I will test out a few things. :D :D

90ps t230 is pretty good on mpg. Mine does a consistent 39-40mpg around town with 150-200kgs of tools onboard all the time. Get it remapped by vantuner and you've got 15-20bhp more and more torque plus the same if not better mpg.

Mines remapped and the mpg remained the same even with some heavy footed driving.

Cheers. Well I saw the transporter doubleback and that gave me loads of ideas. So the tdci models have problems then. That sucks :( I thought they were gonna be good for mpg. Oh well. Does anyone know anywhere I could get cheap leasure batteries. And is there a vantuner in Ireland? :D :D
