Focus air box

Postby Andy_P » Fri Aug 31, 2012 1:51 pm

I've seen it mentioned a couple of times, people fitting Focus air boxes and cold air inlets to give a bit more uumph.
Can anyone elaborate on this?
What year focus etc?

focus diesel airbox or focus st170, very easy to find the airboxes on ebay but very hard to get the snorkle that goes with them. Its bascially the same aibox as the standard connect one but it has a hole in the bottom to connect a cold air feed. I actually just bought the whole set the other day on ebay but have been looking for one for a while.

Got mine out of a 51 plate petrol. Its just the bottom part of the air box and the air inlet pipe that sits on the slam panel of the van for better air inlet.

This is what you need.

Thanks for the replies.
And is £30, as per the eBay link you posted, a fair price?

Don't go for the st170 air box as they have a triangular inlet in the bottom. The 1.8 diesel, 1.8 and 2.0 petrol ones have a circular hole which would be better suited. You want one from a 1998-2004 model focus (the mk 1).

Not sure on price, I got one off my mate. If you got local breakers try those first . I found that it made a noticeable difference to my 75.

i would say 30 is a pretty fair price as i paid 18 pounds for just the box and the snorkle for 15, so its slightly cheaper than mine.
