Change tape player for CD player

Postby civvyash » Fri Oct 05, 2012 10:22 pm

Hi guys,

First post on the forum, please be gentle!

I have bought a 03 connect today but it has a tape player, does anyone know how much it would cost to buy a cd player replacement and get them swapped over? Is there a certain model I need to buy?

Not really sure if any other info is needed but any help appreciated.

Thanks

If your replacing with another Ford model then you need the 600 RDS as later headsets wont fit. Best to replace with a nice newer single din and fit a blank but again make sure its the right one. For some reason Ford fitted a 1.5 din headset upto early part of o6 then double din onwards which is an easier replacement. Quite a few posts on here regarding this and an easy job to do.

If you are looking to replace the headunit then I might be able to help with a CD one as that's what I took out my van, can check on model number if your interested.

Thanks for the replies, I'm not entirely sure what's what with these, I'll add a photo later of what I have and hopefully someone can advise further.

Hello mate here's some pics of the headunit:

Mine also had steering wheel control on it but I'd have thought there all made the same with just an extra harness plugged in.

Cheers Adam_84, it doesn't look like i can send PM's probably because I only just joined the forum. Yes that seems fine. I'll have a look at mine tomorrow and double check I can replace it with yours and then we can sort out payment etc.

Adam_84, it's actually the 3000 tape player in mine. Would yours still be ok for a swap? is there any way I can check?
