Replacing front lower ball joint

Postby lightning » Sun Oct 14, 2012 11:04 pm

Can l replace this part myself?

What special tools would l need, l assume a ball joint splitter to get it off the lower arm but how does the ball joint fit in to the upper suspension part, would l need a drift to get it out/ get the new one in?

Hi

Yes you will need a ball joint splitter.

The ball joint is just pressed into the swivel hub & secured by a circlip.

Just removed the circlip with a pair of circlip pliers (circlip is located at top of joint just below driveshalf) & use a prybar to push the ball joint out from it's holder.

Very easy job to do.

Remember to clean area thoroughly before fitting new ball joint.
