All connects from 2003 were built in Otosan, Turkey at the production plant at Golcuk. They were sold all over Europe including the US

Although since September 2009, The New Connects are being built at the Oltenia factory Craiova, Romania.

The Connects exported to the US are the passenger models only, (Rear windows & rear seats with seltbelts fitted) this was to circumvent the 25% Import Tax (commonly know as Chicken Tax)on all light goods vehicles (or US Term Light Duty Trucks). Once they reach the US, Ford then strips them down & covert them into vans !

One can only imagine that Ford then send the removed seats back to Turkey or Romania as scrap to have them re-fitted for import????????????????

The parts removed are scrapped & not shipped back. (far cheaper than having to pay 25% Import tax on every vehicle)
