How long will it last

Postby jay3704 » Sat Oct 27, 2012 6:21 pm

I had a new clutch fitted Feb 2011 at 77312 miles and now at 101766 miles its starting to slip
The clutch I had fitted was an original from the main stealers complete kit
How many miles should I of expected out of it surely more than I got and is there any other decent clutches out there that will last

My clutch went at 40,000 miles (110ps Connect T200)
I have never had a clutch fail in a car before, for instance after 120,000 miles in my Kangoo Van the clutch was still OK.

I had a new one fitted plus slave cylinder but the mileage is only 54,000 so it's still OK.
What engine do you have? I read somewhere that the clutch struggles to cope with the 110ps if it's been remapped (mine was for a while)
And also I think there is a stronger aftermarket clutch available.

I don't know (as I went with a standard replacement clutch in the end) but somebody on here should be able to tell you.

When my clutch failed I was told that stronger units were available. Mine actually failed after I overheated it reversing up a steep drive. It slipped after that if I accelerated hard, and never recovered.
