Original facelift stereo

Postby Elling » Tue May 29, 2012 8:06 am

Does anyone know if the facelift stereo has a line out? I need more sound
Easier to ask here than to disassemble the dash :)

After more research, does anyone know if the radio in the Connect is the same as in S-MAX, Focus and Mondeo ?
Mine has the same shape at least...

You can run an amp off of speaker outputs, the sound quality from the ford head units is pretty bad though

Thank you, I'm also waiting for an answer from the seller, I'll report here if it's a fit. :)

Yeah, that was the last sollution, but I'd rather buy a new player with aux-out, now that I have found it on ebay :)
I have a amp to use on the speaker outputs, but the poor quality you get from this has stopped me from tearing the interiour apart :)

Call me a madman, but I bought this one:

The next question is then, has anyone disassembled the dashboard in the new Connect?

Yes

Pop Off the top cover complete with the central air vents (11 retainer clips securing the top panel to the dash molding)

Now the Centre panel around the stereo should easily be removed (held in place with four 4 clips)

Hope this helps

Hi

Did you also order the CAN-BUS adaptor ??

As you will require it, Especially for the GPS. Theres no anologue speed pulse wire on connects from 2006 onwards - So GPS navigation will not work

A CAN-BUS system is a digital communications network where all components are talking to each other. The C/L module, ECU, intrument panel, Airbag, wipers, heater & stereo are all connected to this CAN-BUS system

(Thats why when you adjust the time clock the the instrument panel it also adjusts the time on the stereo automatically, as they are effectively linked together !

On the stereo wiring harness thats plugs into the back of the original stereo, these are the main wiring connections

BATT 12v+
IGNITION SENSE (Ign Live - acc)
ALARM SENSE
ILLUMINATION
GROUND
KEYCODE GROUND
CAN + (CAN-BUS HIGH)
CAN - (CAN-BUS LOW)

RIGHT SPEAKER +
RIGHT SPEAKER -
LEFT SPEAKER +
LEFT SPEAKER -

On a final note members that own connects from 2006 onwards & wish to fit the Sony gen 2 stereo may find the stereo has to be programmed to their vehicle using the CAN-BUS
