03 TDCI wont start:(

Havent had my van running for months now and im about to give up on it but i thought ill give it one more go. I had a piston replaced in the engine and since everything was put back together it hasnt ran. It cranks over ok just wont start. Few months ago i had it diagnosed and 1342, P1211, P0251 came up. Ive had it started with easy start which probably means a fuelling issue? so with those codes coming up i had the pump changed and the sensor at the back of the pump and still nothing.
anyway ive bought F Super off ebay and connected the van up to the laptop and read the codes. now im getting:
P1342 Pedal demand seosor
P1631 Main Relay
B1681 PATS Transeiver module signal is not received.
The van still starts if i use easy start but cuts off after bout 10 seconds then the ignition light flashes. Ive had all the injector codes re programmed but for some reason its gone back to how it was now, ill attach a pic showing the codes. Ill also attach the Live data with the ignition on and when cranking over.

I think the reason its not starting is the:

B1681 PATS Transeiver module signal is not received

Have you got another key you can try

No only got the one key:( but ive had it started using easy start which is confusing. if that code was the fault surely it wouldnt start even using easy start?

Does it continue to run or just cut out when you stop spraying in the instant knock?is the pats light flashing when u crank the engine?

with just a light spray and a couple of cranking voer it will start and run for around 10 seconds then it will cut out and the ignition light will flash. If i try and start it without easy start and just keep cranking it over eventually the ligntion light will flash

Any diesel will start on easy start and will run untill you stop spaying, you are spraying fuel direct into the inlet where as the injectors inject the fuel, as the PATS system is not recognizing the transponder in the key its not going to start, as the injectors are not iinjecting, the problem could be the Key (transponder) the transponder pickup antenna or the PATS control unit also check fuse 48 (7.5 amp) to see if that is ok


B1681 - Transceiver module signal not received by PATS control. Tranciever not connected/defective, or wiring problem between transceiver and PATS Control module

Was the pump you bought a second hand unit?Not sure with the tdci if the pump has to be virginized & recoded to your ecu,dieselboy is the man you need

yeh it was s second hand one. i was told that i dont need to have it re programmed:S

The engine will always start with easy start, as long as it has compression. The product enters the engine via the air intake.

So it does not need the injectors, electrics or fuel pump to be operative...just the engine to turn over on the starter. So it will start while you are spraying easy start into it even if the ECU is disabled and nothing is working.

Has the engine been out,,,? could the crank sensor have been damaged or not connected propper?

yes the engine has been completely stipped down when the piston was changed. ive already checked the crank sensor and it wasnt that:S

any ideas what could be causing low fuel rail pressure when trying to start it up? cos im not getting any codes up to do with the fuel:S

That's why I don't like diesels. So complex and so many things that can cause it not to run.

Sadly the petrol engined Connect only did about 20mpg round town....so diesel it is.
