The egr can't be removed from the ECU programming on a connect though Martyn/VanTuner told me that

Yes cleaning map sensors out it was a very common problem on the T16 rover and several other vehicles![]()
I am a very skilled mechanic but im not familiar with the connect having never worked on one only its counterpart the mondeo. Just because im a qualified mechanic does not mean i still don't learn and have to ask questions.
The reason for asking on the owners club is because there may be a common reason for this happening and it would save me time asking instead of going through the motions as i would do with any paying customers that came in. The only thing i ask customers is the symptoms and problems they have been having which aids me to diagnose the problem.
I have found in the many years i have been in the motor trade is the mechanic who is prepared to ask and take advice is the better mechanic then the one who's head is to far up his own arse to swallow some pride and ask and they the ones who often miss diagnose and cost the customer a lot of unnecessary expense and make mistakes.
Thanks to those who have confirmed what i thought would be a good route to go
Cheers
