are all rear axles the same with regards to the four bolts that keep the hubs on,im converting to four stud using st170 parts (why ? because i want to and i have all parts)
but the bolt holes dont match on my axle disk type its a swb 220

No idea on your question.. But be careful that the wheels can take the weight of the van. The rozzers may have you if you're not 100%

when adam connect was down at paul2012 garage,he said there is 11 different axles which are all in stock.


i have lowered a few st170 powered/converted connects now,you have to file out/move the holes to mount the rear hubs.

Yes all connects axles have the same bolt pattern for the rear hub assembly



Unfortunately st170 rear hubs will not bolt straight on due to the ABS sensor position & position of bolt hole holes (see pic below)



As for the front the st170 steering knuckle won't fit, lower ball joint mounted to the lower suspension arm (lower ball joint is mounted to the steering stuckle on connects see pic below)

Just fit mk1 focus rs hubs on the front.

cheers for the replys looks like ill be leaving it 5 stud, front end i was going to use st170 subframe ect it was just the rear i was unsure of

Repalce the axle flange - the bit wheel bolts onto.

You will require a press to drive the flange from the front knuckles.

and 2 wheel bearings as driving the flanges out normally destroys the bearings

front ends easy enough to sort its the rear thats the problem

Anyone have more info on this, I want to do the 4 stud 4x108 Mk1 Focus swap, front and rear.

Cannot get decisive info online and people seem to not want to give this info up without a BJ or something... Fkd up.

So for the Front, are just 1) swaping the drive flange, then 2) re-drilling the rotor? Or is the Mk1 Focus disc the same diameter/back-spacing/etcetera?

I have heard that the Rear hub takes the same bearing OD, but a different ID to the Mk1 Focus and they can be adapted this way.

i wouldn't like to give the advice as i don't know the limitations of such a conversion

i can give you terminology to help you with the search and that is

Pitch Circle Diameter or (PCD) written with your 4x108 will help you find out more info in a google search

Drums - which is all i know
and antlock or non antilock wheel bearings,
antilock are larger ..back plate is different.

if your talking Rear discs ...no info from me

The 4 bolt pattern from a fiesta mounted on a transit connect would not work, because the connect axle has bene load rated to handle the 5 bolt pattern and even though there's slight difference in the lug studs (M12 or M14) the smaller 4 bolt set up would not be strong enough to support any weight within or on the van. I wouldn't even try wheel spacers as again the 4 lug pattern and wheel size has not been load indexed to work with the van. Same holds true for when the TC guy's mount Focus wheels on the van. The focus "snowflakes" aren't load indexed to fit the van thus one would risk wheel failure.

This is just for a show car. I am doing the Focus engine swap. Load rating is therefore not an issue for me.

I have seen people have done the swap and daily thier Connect.
Loading it up with heavy stuff would be the issue, I think, in terms of weight. Keep in mind the front and rear bearings are allegedly the same.

This 4x108 swap has been done before, I just want to get some help with how people have done it; I have given up with FaceBook and social media, because all people want to do is show how clever they are and never explain how it was done... car vanity.

There are a few posts around where people turn the axles upside down to lower the mk1 connect, looks bad to me, from an engineering point of view, ..but there you go for other suggestions.

Check stub axle dimensions in case you can just swap hubs.....
Then what about the fronts ??
