legroom in a connect?

Postby popuptoaster » Wed Aug 09, 2006 11:48 pm

getting a new van with me new job, the buggers are trying to give me a vauxhall combo, but i want a transit connect, if i can find out the actual measurements for front seat legroom in both it would help my case a lot, as i'm so cramped up in most small vans (i'm 6'7") i can insist on not getting a little one under health and safety rules.

cant find what i need on the net so hopefully someone on here can help.

To be honest I think you will find they are practically the same, as they are both low seats unlike the real Transit where you sit upright. phone a dealer they should tell you but if they think a sale is likely they will say 'sure' a 6'7" person can fit in one. Go to the dealers and sit in one, your back will be killing you pretty quickly with being squashed up I think.

I think your firm would be better off with a full sized transit. Tell your work that despite the higher initial outlay, the depreciation will be less and the resale value higher. Also the new reg is coming soon and if they are buying brand new I bet with a bit of effort they could get a SWB for the same price of a v**xhall!

hope you have a full fuel allowence.....Ranger likes to drink ;)

Ranger also feels better to drive with a bit of weight over the back axle, without it it tends to bounce a little.

Good news on the money front though 8)

Hello popup, ive driven both the ranger and and the connect and i found the leg room very tight and i'm 6ft 6.I tried most of the vans at the last comercial vehicle show and to be honest the best cab for leg rood was the new Merc Sprinter!.The new transit was pretty bad as the dash mounted gear shift was in just the right place to hit my knee when climbing into the cab.

Personally I'd go and try each one as the measurements can be misleading :!:
I'd hate to be stuck in a vehicle with insufficient legroom :!: And a Transit with a bulkhead is boarderline for me :!:  So I really don't know how you put up with the standard arrangement :o As my knee couldn't deal with the clutch because of the angle :!: :( :( So I cured my problem and went Auto :!: :D
