red for example
red ones ARE faster than silver ones

mattvik30 wrote:coilovers are definently the way forward for the front end. Atleast that way you are improving the handling as well as the the looks
connect_4 wrote:MK2 RS front springs are a direct fit BUT they only lower the front by around 15mm.
you need to lower the front by 40mm to get the look you want, so you could buy some MK2 lowering springs.
cheers

my names Lee, im 20, a carpenter and from North Devon. I bought a connect in septemer after making the dificultbut wize desission to sell my pride and joy and buy a van

heres a few picturs of my old car, a tastfully modified Mk6 1.4 fiesta
i spent thousonds of hours on the car changing every i couldfrom lowering it and putting ST parts on it to taking out the dashboard to changed the LED's to blue and fitting rear disc brakes
![]()
i was and still am very sad that its gone![]()
anywho, this isnt a fiesta site, its a transit connect one
so heres a picture of it when i bought it.
a 56 plate T220 LX (90)
first things first, fitted a ply bulk head and floor, and made up a few shelveing units and a cheeky sub box![]()
i liked the idea of the folding passenger seat so thought id try somthing a bit fancy with the space below.
so i made this:
didnt want to change the standard CD player at this point so put a Line converter to feed sound to the amp
and fitted it here:
plenty of room down there and i think it looks smart!
after this i decided to uprate the door speakers, so bought some Vibe 5'' component speakers and fitted them like so..
since fitting these i changed the 6x9's for vibe ones and also have a vibe sub i want to used insted of the orange Edge one.
Front ford badge looked worn out and ugly so bought a new one, the newer shape ford galaxy badge is the same size and easyer to find cheap!
the wheels looked a tad on the rusty side so one hungover sunday i resprayed them
( terribe overspray! dont even know how with all newspaper and masking tape)
and while i was at it painted my drums and calipers blue![]()
heres the beast after a days worth of removing tar and polishing!
a few other things ive done are changed the interior lights to SMD 8 LED festoons, makes the back look like day light and where only a couple of quid!
front indicator bulbs to silvertec chrome'd ones and put my old CD player from my car in.
now thats whats been done, time for the plans!
firstly and most importantly while i was at Ford fair last year, on my way down to the 0-60 strip i saw a very nice white connect that if im honest made my mind up about them and helped my fully make my mind up about them
i have a feeling ive seen picture of the van on here?? if so make your self known!![]()
since looking around at connects i also found this beauty
so the main plans are:
Focus ST-2 alloys
Lower it as much as practicaly possible
Spray bumpers and wheel arches white
im think im going to have a go spraying the bumpers and arches my self ( didnt do too bad a job on my fiestas front bumper i dont think)
i might be able to get a set of 2nd hand ST alloys at a good price so there sorted
and my dads a very good welder and been in the motor trade for 30 years + so the axle flip, hangers and actual spring change arnt too much of a problem.
the main thing i need help with is lowering the front, im after a similar hight to the white one pictured above, but not 100% sure where to start, i think ill go down the focus MK2 approch, as it seems easyer to do, but do they have to be RS springs or will all MK2 springs fit? I.E. ST's, 1.6's, derv's ? and as for lowering springs, does any one know how much more extra the weight of the connect adds on?
i do have many more plans for it, but want to sort these out first!
Cheers for looking!
