You are still limited to what you can get up there, especially without it falling off when you pull away.
You have to remember that the shelf fits in where the front of the roof slopes down towards the windscreen, so you cannot get anything big up there.
Also, there is not much of a lip on the front, so all my paperwork, gloves etc keep falling off.
But on a handy side, the lip does keep in place a box of business cards, a digital camera in a case, and a clipboard, and also hides a 3 way faglighter socket, that powers my reversing camera, my satnav, and a trip vcr, most of which has been fixed to the underside of the shelf instead of having them suctioned to the windscreen

How deep is the cab from front slope to bulkhead?I don't have one so have not properly looked inside but if deep enough I was thinking more allong the lines of a custom shelf spanning the full depth of the cab, from where the oe shelf sits just above windscreen level back to the bulkhead and accessible from just back. Could something like that be done? Even if it's just somewhere to store dust sheets and rain suites/over trousers and coats

OK, measuring the shelf, its 8 inches deep, and 8 inches upwards, but 5 inches towards the doors.
It decreases steeply downwards because of the roof.
This pic shows it with a net, but I have never seen one with a net, its obviosly a euro spec tourneo, maybe

TRC - that's not a Ford fitment so must be a EEB fleet add-on.

The standard shelf on the van has no net, but I see the American Connect does have one fitted. Anyway, the Connect shelf is a really sturdy job, and is deeper and wider than all the competition including the VW Caddy and the older PSA group vehicles. I checked these all out. As fitted the shelf is perfect for me.
I've fitted retaining straps crossways and elastic netting at front door height from the folding mesh bulkhead all the way to the rear doors to carry light stuff like bedding, clothing, and sheeting. Access is the problem with a solid setup. You can't really put heavy objects up in the roofspace, or you'll brain yourself. There's only one centre rib light so you won't want to obscure that either.
By the way my trip has read 450-490 between the warning lights (46 litres- 10 galls) but MPG of 45 to 46 is typical.

At the mo I just stuff my fleeces and waterproofs on that shelf, but I'm sure I can put it to better use.. or maybe not!
