Found the vital statistics.

There won't be a High Roof version - just a medium height roof van with 2 body lengths, with the LWB beating the VW Caddy Maxi, Fiat Doblo/Vauxhall Combo LWB, and Renault Kangoo LWB. LWB 3.5 metre long load compartment, with a fold-flat passenger seat standard in both the SWB & LWB.

Bodystyle

front-wheel drive, short or long wheelbase versatile compact van

Engine & Transmission

NA:
2.5-liter iVCT and 1.6-liter EcoBoost with 6-speed automatic transmissions; FWD

EU & RO W:
1.6-liter Duratorq TDCi diesel
and 1.0-liter EcoBoost with 5/6-speed manual transmissions;
1.6-liter EcoBoost with 6-speed automatic transmission; FWD

Dimensions

Length
SWB . . . . . . . . . . . . 4,418 mm
LWB . . . . . . . . . . . . 4,818 mm

Height
SWB . . . . . . . . . . . . 1,860 mm
LWB . . . . . . . . . . . . .1,861 mm

Wheelbase
SWB . . . . . . . . . . . .2,662 mm
LWB . . . . . . . . . . . .3,062 mmO

Vans are designed for people with imagination. Cars are so limiting ... what can you do with them?

Awesome. Too bad there's no automatic to go with the diesel.

You obviously haven't been paying attention in class. Re-read the engine/gearbox combo's. The Ford 1.6 TDCI has an auto option so this will be on offer in the new Connect.

This has quite changed my opinion. I've decided I'm going to have the LWB version with the newer 1.6 complete with the 6-speed Auto. I'm fed up of all this stick shifting.

You can depend on Ford to come up with the unexpected ..... once they've seen what the opposition has to offer, which is their usual tactic. This is why the current Connect has sold so well..... 109,000 sold in Europe now .... 1200 Connects bought by the Canadian Postal Service last month.

Ok, I may have misunderstood this logic:

EU & RO W:
1.6-liter Duratorq TDCi diesel
and 1.0-liter EcoBoost with 5/6-speed manual transmissions;

1.6-liter EcoBoost with 6-speed automatic transmission; FWD
1.6 Ecoboost A/T LWB '16

There's a video worth a look..... (spool 45 minutes in) .... the whole CV range is being replaced end of next year.

Transit 'Courier' (new small van)
Transit 'Connect'
Transit 'Custom' (LR - in 2 body lengths).
Transit '2-ton' (MR/HR - in various lengths)

There'll be Tourneo passenger versions as well - Tourneo Courier, Tourneo Connect, Tourneo Custom.

The new Connect will have a dual passenger seat & a sloping bulkhead, so quite a change.

This took some finding but it's the best video view of the new Connect SWB going on sale this time next year in Europe .... confusingly called the 2014 Connect.

They've gone for a 3-seater cabin with a narrow Noddy seat in the middle. The backrest of this can be folded flat to form a writing surface (good for me, but not for most in RHD form), and the whole assembly tips up so you can hide your handbag in the compartment underneath.

The bulkhead seems to be able to be tipped or moved back because there are release knobs, but I've got no idea how this'll work. I really fancy the stretched limo LWB job....... but not sure how to live with the funky Fiesta fascia. The links are below ......
