my van is In the body shop today getting the new mk3 bumper fitted. The Bodyshop have rang and said the bumper won't fit without cutting the bar on the panel below which the bonet catch/ locking mechanism is attached to as the bumper is catchkng ln this and wont line up my van is 57 plate mk2 connect.
is this right or is there something else needed replacing

I have been sent a pic of the bar in question but can't upload from phone

There is a small bit of cutting involved, about 3 inches each side, completely harmless, its only because the new bumper has the uptight bits next to the headlights.
In fact if I remember right, I used a grinder to cut into the piece, and folded the lip out of the way.

so you say cutting approx 3 inches out of either side and bending back the metal but leave the rest of the bar intact. No need to remove the full bar??
