Oh well. It's still lower revs than the old box I had so gives better economy.

If you could post the results that would be great. It would be now to see the difference :)

When removing engine, it can be easily removed from the top complete with gearbox attached.

Before lifting engine, remove the following

Disconnect all coolant hoses & remove radiator assembly
Unbolt the cat, remove inlet & exhaust manifold with turbo.
Power steering pump & alternator.
Battery tray
Both fuel pipes
Unplug the 2 electrical connection plugs on top of gearbox (2003-2006)
Disconnect both gearshift cables
disengage both driveshaft's & remove them (Don't forget Clutch Pipe)
Uses suitable engine hoist & load level to take weight of engine & gearbox
Remove engine & top gearbox mount completely
Remove the single bolt for rear lower gearbox mount.

Using a load level lower the gearbox end first before proceeding to lift whole assembly.
Once engine is clear from O/S chassis rotate engine & box slightly so it clear from N/S chassis.
When clear level the assembly using the load level then lift clear from vehicle.

I didn't have to remove my front bumper 8)

Looks like you've got some serious technical knowledge Paul. Personally wouldn't know where to start! I don't give a sh*t about Pulse Modulations etc and if you want to spend your cash on what seems your hobby, then good on ya.

I doubt many, if any would invest in a project like this and most, including me, couldn't if they tried.

Lookin' good.

Thanks

With this Focus box 6M5R 7002 ZD (Ford Part No F1706941) Ratio 3.41
Firstly instead of racing through the short gears on the connect box, this one they are longer.
Ideal when on motorways cruising at 70 you engine speed could be as low as 1700 RPM The advantage would be fuel economy,
Mainly due to engine will no longer be racing away as it does with the connect box

Thankyou, still loads more work to be done yet

I agree reguarding the PWM fiasco, a lot of people tend to blank of EGR valves so it's irrelevant & can be confusing hence why I never went into detail about it until now.

I got my one from Ebay, & yes you use the same clutch assembly fitted to connects - Put a new 3 piece clutch kit in when fitting a new box

There's a gearbox available here :arrow:http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/FOCUS-MK2-MK3 ... 27cc8d327c
