I was just looking at that link to the focus gearbox thinking it might be worth getting to reduce the rpm and reduce fuel bills but think I may wait for a while lol.

Coming along well though Paul2012

Started installation of ABS /ESP system - Easier to do when engine is out

Brake Master cylinder & servo fitted along with feed pipes to ABS pump

Image

Also solved problem with gearbox mounting issue

Gutted old box & fitted all the internals from new gearbox into old casing

Image

All I need to do now is fit new clutch to engine & CSC to gearbox

It tool me all afternoon, the most awkward part was splitting the boxes.
Once that was done & components removed from connect box, it was a matter of removing the them from Focus box & refitting them into the connects gearbox casing.
Mind you Ford TIS was handy to have
The layout between both boxes are identical.

Engine & gearbox is finally fitted

Yes it could do with a clean, but that will be done once complete.

Next step to get rest of parts fitted, Alternator, Starter motor, Turbo etc

A few bits & pieces done today.

Alternator & starter fitted

Image

Also found where Alternator "smart charge" sub loom plugs into, the Smart charge loom was part of the original engine bay loom. Also confirm on wiring diagrams for 2003-2006 connects
Ford obviously revised it due wiring deteriorating leading to the common fault of "alternator light on". So when faulty simply unplug old one & plug in new one

Image

New radiator air ducting (2009 onwards) fitted- notice the new bumper support where the top of bumper clips onto (mentioned in previous posts), without this the bumper will sag distorting the bottom of front grill :!:

Image

Radiator Now fitted & connected up - Here you can see plug for alternator smart charge sub loom (Nowhere near battery, It's actually located on O/S of engine bay when clipped into place)

Image

Getting there slowing, more parts yet too fit

A few weeks ago I ordered some new heated washer jets from Ford

These are for Connects 2009 onwards, I am right in saying these are the MIST type :?:

Image

For new engine I'm going OEM

Genuine oil filter

Image

& 5W-30 Synthetic Engine oil - Although a couple of people on here may believe it's antifreeze

Image

I require Gearbox oil now

Are the washer jets heated Paul? Do you know if theres a non heated version and what the part number is? My misses has the mist type jets on her car and they're miles better.

I haven't got ones specifically for the connect. I've got ones for a c max or s max or something.

They aren't bad but still not got round to wedging them up to spray more central.

If Paul's ones specifically for the connect work better then I think I'll swap for those.
