Went to calibrate steering angle sensor today only to find out it's faulty

Still having problems with RCM (Air bag module) Air bag light proves out ok but then comes back on.

Airbag is ok also the 2012 drivers seatbelt pre-tensioner with the wiring & added for it is fine.
This time DTC B1881 is stored - Passenger-side pre-tensioner circuit open / resistance high :?

It looks like I may require a 2009 onwards passenger seatbelt after all - Although wiring I grabbed for driver side part wiring was also there for passenger side , but taped back to loom with no yellow plug.
I will have to check passenger seatbelt in the connect I removed wiring from to see if it's connected or not.

Bagged a brand new steering angle sensor from ebay £15

Image

Now time to remove faulty one. First remove complete column switch gear assembly from steering column.

Image

Remove 4 screws securing squib to switch gear body & lift clear.

Image

On the back is were steering angle sensor clipped to squib.

Image

Unclip & remove sensor.

Image

Fit new steering angle sensor in it's place.
Refit squib to switch gear body & refit assembly to steering column.

Image

Sensor has now been calibrated via Ford IDS & working properly. :D

PS - Steering angle on Transit mk7's is fitted in the same way

Refitted column switchgear assembly with new steering angle sensor & it's now working perfectly :D

After checking connect at breakers yard where I obtained O/S seat belt wiring from, I can confirm N/S seatbelt also has a pretensioner.
Which is surprising as 2003-2009 connects don't have a N/S pretensioner with only a drivers airbag.
So I grabbed seatbelt & wiring to go with it & fitted to my connect. Now airbag system is fully working with no DTC's & airbag light proves out & stays off as it should do :D

Also bagged GEM module & alarm wiring, bonnet switch & horn. Hopefull I should be able to fit it into my connect.
Don't know if auto wipe/lights is enabled on GEM module though, I know there's no options to enable then via IDS :(

Hopefully I can find a way to reprogram GEM module so it has Alarm & automatic wipers / headlights enabled :?

I will know more tomorrow....
