Well finally replaced alternator today :D

Compared both together before fitting

Image

Now fitted. Works perfectly, no more Batt light or DTC stored

Image

Also removed old accelerator pedal mounting bracket

Image

& fitted replacement along with accelerator pedal

Image

Image

Now drivers seat can be refitted :D

Yes, I know clutch/brake pedal could do with new rubbers

Fitted new seatbelt clasp for belt minder to drivers seat before refitting seat.
Along with steering column covers & O/S kick panel etc

Image

Think I will do away with old grey kick panels etc as they don't look right with dash. Time to get later dark pewter ones.
I may also change floor cover to dark pewter as well :?:

Still looking for replacement door cards to match dash :(

Routed wiring for ext ambient air temp sensor through engine bay. - Sensor clips onto back off lower bumper reinforcement bar

Now it's working as it should do & get this message & chime when air temp is 4°C & below. Simply hit menu set/reset to clear message.

Image

Yes ABS light is on, due to ABS pump not plugged in yet, I really need to fill tank with diesel

Image

Just an idea on what it looks like in the dark - yes they all can be dimmed including stereo via dimmer control on headlamp switch

Well changed Pollen filter today.

Old one looked as if it be in there for a few years

Image

Image

Replacement grabbed from ebay here :arrow:http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/FORD-CONNECT- ... 3a8ad92da3

Also bagged door handles from local salvage yard. Going to get them painted up before fitting.

Image

To save on time, due to complete door lock assembly on front doors has to be removed to get access to T20 torx bolt.
It works out easier to get another set. When painted, I can remove my old ones then fit replacements straight away.

Then get old ones painted & sell on ??? 8)

Paul, the pollen filter looks like the one that was in my Dad's (ex-police) Astra. He wondered why the car was permanently steamed up. Removal of the offending item was an instant cure (non-ac vehicle)

Strangely though our Connect came with no filter (i assumed it was required with ac) it had a plastic grille fitted in its place, i guess to minimise leaf ingress etc. If i had seen your photo Paul, i wouldn't have spent 15 mins trying to wedge the filter in the grille thingy when it was obvious it was one or the other !

Once IDS has communicated with vehicle. Select Module programming & then Programmable module installation (PMI)
Select GEM, IDS will attempt to download "as built data" it will then give option to manually configure GEM module.
Select manual configuration & enter the following codes when instructed too. ( there are 3 programming codes to enter in - 1 at a time, shown in yellow box below)

There should be a pollen filter there with or without AC

To replace, remove scuttle panel, then remove 2 torx screws securing water tray & remove it. This will give you easier access.

Unclip flap at front of pollen filter housing, then lift & remove grille/mesh then remove pollen filter.
Reverse proceedure to fit new filter.

(My Connect is missing the plastic grille/mesh that goes on top of filter. Currently have a new one on order Ford part no F4529629)

I can say that there is an increase of airflow now filter has been replaced :D

Tried all combinations of fitting the grille back on with the filter in, to the effect i deduced it was one or the other ! In anycase i cant see an issue now as the filter is tight fit, and can't fall out

Nasty, cheap Chinese tyres, no thanks, is it not best to spend a little more on things like tyres and brakes !

Tyre discussions cause more heated debates than anything even amongst friends !

I have always been sceptical about budget tyres and never used them, however when my other half bought her Connect sportvan, it came with four reasonably new Khumo tyres on. Everything was done at the Ford dealer by the previous (lady as well !) owner, even down to tyres, bulbs and screenwash purchases ! Anyway, they seem fine, which has surprised me - not noisy, and the grip seems fine.

On the other hand, my work car - a 2011 Octavia - has just had new tyres fitted yesterday, and as it is going back in about 6 weeks or so, I expected the lease company to try and save money, but they authorised all four Michelins. Even with the discount they must get, its an odd decision.
