I've been reading through the thread and am simply in awe of what you have done.

Some folk do point out that you could have bought this or that and saved yourself some hassle but I guess that part of this was to see if it could be done and to push your own (copious) skill to further limits.

I think what you have done is brilliant and the van looks bloody great. Huge thumbs up to you and thanks for sharing the build.

Well thats your opinion  I go by tyre ratings & not price 8)

Did compare a few tyres in my local area for 205/50/17's

Dunlop Sport BluResponse rating was Fuel efficiency B/ Grip A £165 per tyre
Goodyear EFFICIENTGRIP is Fuel efficiency C/ Grip B £102 per tyre
Michelin Pilot Sport 3 rating was Fuel efficiency E/ Grip A £139 per tyre
Kumho KH31 rating is Fuel efficiency E/ Grip B £68 per tyre
Bridgestone Potenza RE002 rating was Fuel efficiency F/ Grip C which is crap for £106 per tyre !
Continental contipremium contact 2 Run flat rating was Fuel efficiency F/ Grip C which is crap for £139 per tyre ! (Transit sportvans had problems with these :!: )
Infinity INF-05 rating was Fuel efficiency F/ Grip E £55 per tyre

liteace wrote:At least Kumho are listed in the tyre test, those Shengtai rapdis, cant even find them

Kumho tyres are manufactured in China & Korea & are OEM for Kia, Mercedes & VW. So I wouldn't say all tyres manufactured in China are nasty :?

Thanks :D

It would have been easier to fit 2009 onwards wiring loom, but decided to reconfigure the earlier looms instead.
Basically to see if it could be done or not, as I've never done it before on a connect

Here:

and here:

As requested.

Bonnet switch comes complete with mounting bracket

& it mounted in engine bay on N/S

Image

Bolt holes are already present as outlined below

Bonnet switch could be used for aftermarket alarm systems with ease

*** TIP ***

If fitting a 2009 dash in an early connect & have a headlamp switch like mine.
Which has a poistion on it for "parking lamps"

Image

They are very easy to wire up.
Simply add a short section of wire from pin 2 on ignition switch & connect to pin 12 on headlight switch. once done parking lamps will now work. :D
(can also be done on Transit mk7)

As shown on page 16 of this thread

Image

I only have 1 radiator fan (larger one) which is common on early connects. Compared to later connects that have a smaller one instead.
After checking wiring & relay's, Larger fan is secondary & smaller one is primary. (wiring & both relays are present on my 2007 engine bay loom)

So I have obtained a smaller fan from a 2009 connect.

Only Connects with aircon have 2 fan's, no aircon the other one wont do anything unless the engine is realy hot, bit of a waste of time fitting the second one unless you planning driving through the sahara desert

Agreed, unfortunately as my connect has no primary cooling fan (smaller one) fitted - Secondary Fan is for A/C
So when it's required to be on like during hot weather in the summer (if we get any :? ) it's not there.

Hence the reason I'm fitting it.
