Hi,

Can I ask, was the install of the Sony gen 2 head unit just a simple replacement?

I've got a 2010 connect with a standard 6000Cd unit and would like to fit a Sony gen 2, 6CD unit.

I've read on threads that it might need to be 'programmed' to my van, have you had to do that?

Yes it's a simple replacement & will work no problem straight away

If you wish for the time to display on instrument cluster.
Then Sony Gen 2 head unit will require to be reprogrammed to your connect.

I came on the site today to find out about Transit's, found this thread and read all 35 pages. Amazing work and good to see

Might be worth putting a private plate on it (to hide age) and see what a dealer will give you part ex!

Programming can only be down with Ford IDS or another suitable device.

Fitted Mondeo mk3 aluminium interior door handles along with the replacement Dark pewter door cards to match dash.





Also stripped/cleaned & painted towbar.



Once towbar & new heated windscreen is fitted, project is Finished & ready for MOT

Registration date on V5 will give it away.

Thinking of that, need to contact DVLA to notify them of change from Euro 3 to Euro 4 engine - which qualify for cheaper road tax
(TC36 Registered between 1st March 2003 - 31st Dec 2006 with Euro 4 engines)

I know on my last project it didn't effect the insurance.

In theory it shouldn't with this connect. what you find on it is the same as a 2009 onwards connect Trend/Limited. Even alloy wheels are the same as the optional upgrade for the Limited.
(Apart from leather steering wheel, connect sportvan seats & no A/C)

First I'll have to found out what DVLA has to say about it, Technically it's been rebuilt & around 30% is original. Rest has been replaced.
So they may request to have it inspected & if that's the case. It may end up being re-registered & given a age related plate

When I find out, I will post the details here ....

I don't think CIA or FBI will have any interest

I will call DLVA tomorrow to see what needs to be done...
