Update.

Finally got info from DVLA regarding change of Taxation class from Euro 3 to Euro 4

On V5C under section 7, put in new engine number & cylinder capacity.
where is says Tax Class - put in Euro 4 LGV then attach covering letter confirming changes.

Go to post office & they will issue Road Tax under Tax class 36 (Euro 4 light goods vehicles) at £140 for 12 mths or £77 for 6 mths
Post office will then send V5C with covering letter to DLVA & a replacement will be issued.

This Connect is going to be cheap to around in, my insurance is only £194 (full comp) a year for it as I found out today.
Needed to be insured to sort out road tax as taxation class can only be done when taxing.

Euro 4 engines has lower emissions standards than Euro 3 (Euro 5's are lower than 4)

Emission standards are - (g/km)
Euro 3 CO 0.95, NOx 0.78 PM 0.10
Euro 4 CO 0.74, NOx 0.39 PM 0.06
Euro 5 CO 0.74, NOx 0.28 PM 0.005

What makes the difference

EGR valve/systems type - Reduces NOx in exhaust emissions
Diesel CAT's - convert CO to CO2 & HC to H2O and CO2
DPF (Euro 5) acts as a soot trap to reduce PM level

CO = Carbon monoxide
C02 = Carbon dioxide
HC = Hydrocarbons
NOx = Nitrogen oxide
H2O = water

As for MOT Diesel smoke test, it was revised in 2008 to reflect Euro 4 standards.

Passenger cars & light commercial vehicles – first used on or after 1 August 1979 and before 1 July 2008 opacity limit is 3.00
Passenger cars & light commercial vehicles – first used on or after 1 July 2008 opacity limit is 1.5

Bagged this head unit from ebay

Ford FX (LSRNS) navigational system complete with GPS antenna & map SD card. Don't know what year the maps are until unit arrives. I suspect it will be 2008, if so it will be upgraded to with later maps.



This will be fitted to my connect.
Which will be available for sale once new updated V5 has arrived (Euro 4) & price will remain at £3800

Ok how hard would it be just to get engine number & Taxation class changed on v5

I did exactly what I was told to do over the phone. - Put new details in section 8 on V5 together with a covering letter & sent it too them with fee for road tax.
Also put down the correct GVW as it wrong in the V5

Received V5 back yesterday with a letter saying -
"Euro 4 LGV tax class is only applicable for vehicles registered between 1st March 2003 and 31st December 2006 which met the Euro 4 standard (Directive 98/68EC)
and were type approved as category N1 with a revenue weight of 3500kgs or under.
The information provided at first registration confirms the vehicle was correctly registered"

Am I missing something ? Or are DVLA just being stupid

I'm informing them of the change of vehicle details & basically DVLA are saying details were correct at first registration
V5 I received back still has the old engine number on it, GVW is still wrong, in fact it hasn't been amended at all

I will be on the phone to them tomorrow to see what they are playing at.

Loots not here at the moment, shortly after he posted that he got his coat and jumped in a taxi never to be seen again.

Na when i read it i thought it was the date of registration.
Seems like we're even slower in north Wales(probably just me)
