Cable through Bulkhead Into Cab on Connect

Postby LNKAutos » Sun Jan 01, 2012 9:05 pm

Hi There ...

I am not Really New To The Forum As I have used it several Times For Info.....So Hello To Everyone and Here Starts My Contribution Into A Great Forum

I have recently Bought a 2005 T220 75ps LWB HIROOF Transit connect and one of the first jobs to do is fit a Split Charging System and Auxiliary Battery in the back To Power Various "EXTRAS" But on looking for a Location to Thread The Cable through The Bulkhead was being a pain...

Using The Search Button on Here shows up mixed Views so I Did my own Search on the van and After a few hours in the Rain Found This ...

Firstly Remove The Passenger Front Wheel and Arch Liner..The Arch Liner is Held on with a mix Of tx30 and Cross head screws to reveal The main Wiring loom and this small gromit

Remove It And You Will See The Backing of the sound Deading Material..

Using a Sharp screwdriver you can push through the carpet and looking under the glove box and behind the fuse box you will see the hole you have made

All that is left to do is Pass Your Cable through the gromit and apply some sealant to make a water tight seal
Image

I routed A 4awg 20mm Wire around the back of the airbox From a Split Charge Relay to charge the rear battery

Hope these pictures help...

I will be opening a post of the rest of the install Of the Audio/Inverter/Lighting as soon as i get around to fitting it...Thanks...LEE

Cool thread.. I'll be fitting a split charge relay in my new van soon too!

That looks like a really hefty cable going to the relay; is that one supplied with a kit? The kit I bought from eBay for my last van had a cable probably half that size.

I was also thinking about running the s/charge relay from the power supply in the rear corner of the van in the back.. but I'm not sure about the amperage of that feed.

Thought I'd show my efforts using the above method:
Slightly different route, cable runs in 20mm Kopex from battery, above arch liner and in through the grommet hole (tight fit).

Brings you out just behind the glove box, i intend to run through the centre console to behind the drivers seat.

Hi,
Just thought I'd update this post - I have found a secret and quicker route! (no drilling either):

That's where mine goes for my heated seats 8)
Still meaning to put split conduit over it to protect it properly.. Ahh well! One day I'll do it
